I often have people ask how the setups I use in the studio come together. I really enjoy designing sets for themed children’s photoshoots, it’s a fun way to let my creativity loose! I spend more time than I should wandering through antique stores, looking through posts on Craigslist, and turning my neck to check out yard sales as I go by.
I recently found a fabulous world map backdrop and as soon as I did the ideas started spinning. My husband and I hunted for vintage suitcases at antique stores up and down Union Ave. in downtown Pueblo. Several found their way home with me and the set began taking shape.
It wasn’t until a trip to an antique mall in Colorado Springs though, that I really saw the set come to life. In the back of the mall, in a tucked away booth was this perfect bright red metal peddle-car. To be fair, my husband spotted the car first and called me from across the store to come look at it. I very well may have missed it otherwise. We both knew the car would be perfect with the world map to create a “World Traveler” theme. A vintage style globe from a booth across the way was the final touch I’d been looking for.
William was the perfect model for this set! He’s come to see me several times and he’s always so sweet and happy to be in front of the camera. The suspender and cap outfit (part of the studio wardrobe and available for your use!) went perfectly with the setup and William looked adorable in it!
Like most little boys, William loved the idea of the peddle-car! He sat in it and waved and smiled at us, having a great time pretending. When the suitcases were moved to the front, our dapper little model climbed right up on them and posed himself!
