Darlene came to me in the early fall to begin planning her maternity portraits. As part of the planning process I asked her what colors she loves or feels prettiest in and she told me that she loved both dark teal and lavender. For Darlene’s session I ordered two new gowns to add to the studio maternity wardrobe (available for use during any maternity session), one in each of her favorite colors.

We did the first part of Darlene’s maternity session outdoors at the Nature Center in Pueblo. It was freezing cold, raining just a bit, and overcast. When I pulled into the parking lot I was afraid that the session was going to be a bust, but Darlene and her husband were brave and ready to go anyway! We stayed as close to the parking lot as possible because we wanted to keep mama as warm and comfortable as possible. The last bits of fall color gave us a great backdrop and really paired nicely with the dark teal gown we decided to use outdoors.

The second portion of Darlene’s maternity session was held in the studio a few weeks later. She chose to wear the lavender dress and a deep red gown as well.

A few weeks after her maternity session Darlene delivered a sweet little guy named Maxx. His newborn photos will be featured in a future blog post. Thank-you Darlene for choosing me to do your maternity photos!

If you’re looking for a maternity photographer but aren’t quite sure about doing a session I want to reassure you. As a Pueblo maternity photographer a big part of my job is helping pregnant moms feel absolutely gorgeous. This is such a special time in a woman’s life, as her body changes and prepares to welcome a new life into the world.

After having three children of my own I can tell you honestly that I did not feel beautiful when I was pregnant. I never took on the pregnant glow, I was tired and sore and I just wanted to be done. Many of my clients come in feeling the same way, but still wanting to capture this stage of life. I understand because I’ve been there, and I want to help you love your maternity portraits. We’ll work together to create beautiful memories.

In 2015 Clark’s family chose me to be his newborn photographer, together we created a really incredible superhero/comic book/baseball themed newborn session. Clark turned a year old in December and he came back to my studio located near downtown Pueblo for a superhero cake smash. I was so surprised by how much he’d grown! So many changes take place during baby’s first year.

Before the cake smash portion of his session we made sure to get first birthday portraits of Clark. He was in such a good mood, and had the cutest facial expressions.

After Clark’s first birthday photos it was time to make a mess! The backdrop we used for this superhero cake smash matched the one we used during Clark’s newborn photos. We also used the same little superhero plushes from his newborn session to make Clark’s cake smash even more special. Of course he had to be dressed up as Superman again!

Cake smashes are some of my favorite sessions because we really get to see kiddos’ personalities shining through. Some little ones love the cake, others hate it. Some are perfectly still and calm and spend their time studying their surroundings. Clark spent his time trying to figure out what the frosting was all about as it was a new texture for him. He also really wanted to walk around on the cake smash set, which made for some cute photos of him in his cape!

It was so much fun to be part of Clark’s first birthday celebrations. He’s such a cute little Superman and I am honored to have had the privilege of seeing him grow!
